Gone Away

We laugh and play,
as if you hadn't gone away.
Your arms wrapped around me,
my cheek pressed against your chest.
Your body is still warm against mine in that place,
though I know its cold now where you lay.

While I sleep,
your heart still beats,
as if no sirens had howled.
We still laugh and play,
as if you hadn't left that day.
